DIGITAL ILLUSTRATION
I was a kid growing up in New York in the 70s.
It was an amazing time. I loved all the Broadway musicals, including The Wiz, Godspell, and most of all, A Chorus Line. But what really thrilled me was the shows' signature artworks, featured on album covers and on huge Shubert Alley posters.
I loved how illustrators like Milton Glaser and David Byrd managed to capture the spirit and magic of those shows. It was a feast for my young eyes. One Sunday afternoon, I got my father to take me down to the theater district, just when the matinées were letting out, so that I could pick up playbills that audiences were carelessly tossing into Times Square trash bins. I cleaned them off, flattened them, and added them to my collection, which now sits nearby.
